Our Mission

Our company was founded in 2017 as a temporary way to keep our owner afloat during a job search. However, she quickly discovered that she could turn this fun side project into a full-fledged business and career. Magic of Paws grew out of genuine love for the pets we come across, and they are always the first thing on our minds.

We care about animals

We have been focused on the welfare of our clients from day one. We will do whatever we can to make sure every animal we meet is as healthy, safe, understood, and well balanced as possible. We do this on a daily basis through all of our services but also work with local rescue groups and nonprofits to help as many animals as we can.

We care about the environment

Every choice we make in this business comes with the environment in mind. We use compostable bags instead of single-use plastics and are working to build a hybrid and electric vehicle fleet.

We care about keeping informed

A well-trained and well-informed team is integral to providing our clients with the best service. We are constantly providing new information to our employees and clients as it comes available and constantly update our services to reflect what we have learned.

Nyssa is a professional dog trainer and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers. Committed to providing her clients with full peace of mind, she keeps her pet first aid certification up to date and regularly seeks continuing education and professional development opportunities. Nyssa prides herself on running a business that is committed to taking the best care of both human and creature clients. Her goal is to make clients’ lives easier by making sure their pets enjoy loving company while their owners are away and by providing pet parents with the tools to communicate when they are together. When not helping out her clients’ dogs, cats, birds, and bunnies, Nyssa can be found doting on her hyper border collie mix, Wish, rescue cat, Ernest, and special needs border collie, Boomer; knitting more projects than she'll ever finish; and binge-watching the entire Marvel Universe.

Wish Gatcombe

General Manager

Wish is a twelve-year-old Border Collie mix who has yet to figure that out. She oversees all of the business activities and keeps a close eye on anyone working in the office. Occasionally, she will help Nyssa with a training session. She is the first to greet everyone who stops by and will wiggle her way into your heart if you let her.

Ernest McCrea

Office Manager

Ernest keeps a close eye on everything going on in the office from his perch on the desk, even if he does make it hard for people to use the phone. His hobbies include standing in just the right spot so you cannot see what you are working on and opening the help menu in Chrome.

Boomer Gatcombe-McCrea

HR Manager

Boomer is a special boy with a special job. He has a neurological disorder that makes him a little clumsy and uncoordinated but he is great at improving morale! He occasionally goes with Nyssa to our group training classes to help her demonstrate all of the commands.
