High School Course

Get started today

Dog behavior is a complicated mix of environmental, mental
and physical factors that can change depending on the circumstances. The goal of our program is to instill a goal on
the part of pet parents to continuously work with their dogs to create well-behaved, well-socialized companions.

This course shows you how to teach these skills using effective, reward-based methods, and how to teach skills with reliability. Reward-based training methods minimize the use of punishment and are fun for both pet parent and dog. Because training gives dogs more acceptable outlets for their energy, there is an increase in the odds that your dog will stay in your family for their lifetimes rather than be given up due to behavior issues.

What you'll get:

  • Step-by-step instructions for your basic obedience cues
  • Real world exercises and games
  • Socialization and potty training instructions and many other problem prevention tips
  • Lifetime access to both our Puppy Class and Client Facebook groups for weekly live Q&A sessions and practice reviews.

What your dog will learn:

  1. Sit & Down The behaviors of Sit and Down have a variety of real-life applications. As alternatives to undesirable behavior, each of these behaviors has unlimited uses. Both behaviors are useful for grooming and veterinary examinations as well.
  2. Come & Collar Grab Coming when called could save your dog’s life if he gets loose. Training a dog to want to come to you also helps strengthen the bond between dog and pet parent.
  3. Off-Leash Heel This is the precursor to Loose-Leash Walking. Checking in with one another builds comfort, ease and a connection between the dog and pet parent.
  4. Basic Stay Stay is useful when you need your dog to remain in place amid distractions.
  5. Confidence Course Dogs are exposed to many types of terrain and objects while out on a walk. Exposure to different visual and textural items will help boost confidence.
  6. Name Game You can use your dog’s name to get her attention or call her back from a potentially dangerous situation once she has a good recall. If she has a positive association with her name, it can also be used to help ease her
    discomfort with scary situations.
  7. Comfort Around Food Bowl A dog should be comfortable with people in the same room when she is
    eating to prevent any incidents.
  8. Meeting Strangers The pet parent and dog will likely be exposed to other people while walking in public. It is important that the pet parent’s dog is comfortable and can remain calm and relaxed to prevent any incidents.
  9. Body Handling Handling your dog is essential to grooming and important to maintaining your dog’s health.

What you'll need:

  • Leash (4’ to 6’ made of leather, nylon or rope,
    non-retractable)
  • Collar and/or harness
  • Treat pouch (you can add one to your order if you need one)
  • Treats (have multiple options for your dog)
  • Bed or mat for the dog’s comfort
  • Chew item or food-stuffed toy

Choke, pinch and shock collars should not be used.

Disclaimer: While we would love to guarantee that your puppy will be a perfect little angel after this course the best we can do is guarantee the product. If you practice with your pup regularly you will see great results but they are living creatures with a mind of their own and don't always like follow up on their promises.
